Geryah Dingle Finds a Hypnotic Pop/R&B Pocket on “On the Clock (Hold Me Steady),” the Second Single from Upcoming Album RUPTURE
Orlando, FL – Singer-songwriter Geryah Dingle brings rhythmic tension, intimate vocals, and a hypnotic groove to “On the Clock (Hold Me Steady),” the second single from her forthcoming album, RUPTURE. Already released and drawing a stronger response than Dingle anticipated, the track introduces another dimension of the project’s emotional world: the urgency of wanting connection when time feels limited.
Through October 10, 2026, the single has earned more than 1,800 Spotify streams, alongside 121 saves and 121 playlist adds, as listeners continue discovering the track following its release.
Produced by Austin Hull, “On the Clock (Hold Me Steady)” pairs a groove-driven Pop/R&B direction with an emotional request at its center. Beneath the track’s attitude and movement is an invitation to offer steadiness in a moment of pressure.
“Conceptually the song sits in a rhythmic tension space — almost like nervous-system activation under time pressure, where the groove feels like something is ticking or looping, and the emotional core is asking someone to steady you in that moment,” Dingle wrote to Hull at the beginning of their collaboration.
That tension became the starting point for a track built around pulse, vocal phrasing, and atmosphere.
Sound and Style
“On the Clock (Hold Me Steady)” brings together hypnotic repetition, expressive synth textures, and a rhythmic pocket that gives the vocal room to carry both vulnerability and sass.
Built around sparse 808 production, layered vocal textures, and intentional space, the track turns the repeated “YOU” vocal into a percussive hook. The voice becomes part of the rhythm itself, reinforcing the looping tension at the heart of the song.
From the outset, Dingle envisioned a close, intimate performance with understated warmth and restraint. The production brief emphasized rhythm and space, allowing the emotional weight to come through the interaction between the voice and the groove.
“Sonically I imagine something groove-driven, intimate, and rhythmic rather than big or anthem-like,” Dingle explained in her initial note to Hull.
Early reference points included SZA’s “The Weekend,” Beyoncé’s “Rocket,” The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” and Destiny’s Child’s “Get on the Bus.” Each offered a different element of the intended direction: looping grooves, vocal space, emotional tension, and the syncopated pocket associated with Timbaland-era R&B.
Together, those influences helped frame a sound with movement and emotional gravity, leaving room for Hull to bring his own instincts to the production.
Behind the Groove
The collaboration began with a rough demo and lyrics that communicated Dingle’s intended phrasing and rhythmic feel. While the references established an emotional lane, the direction remained open.
“These are just vibe references to give a sense of the emotional lane,” Dingle told Hull. “I’m excited to see where you take it.”
Her response to the developing production was immediate.
“I was listening to it on blast all the way home from work,” she wrote after hearing the beat. “It’s super vibey, hypnotic, and super catchy.”
She added: “That synth is singing. I can hear all the influences and the pocket sits just right!”
That exchange captures the energy behind the record: a carefully considered emotional concept finding a groove that felt instinctive, expressive, and fun.
Finding Steadiness Within RUPTURE
Following lead single “Truth Comes Sideways,” “On the Clock (Hold Me Steady)” continues Dingle’s exploration of emotional safety and connection through a different musical lens.
Where “Truth Comes Sideways” makes room for honesty to arrive imperfectly, “On the Clock (Hold Me Steady)” places the need for reassurance inside a more urgent rhythmic setting. Its central request is direct: hold me steady while the pressure is still present.
As the second release from RUPTURE, the single expands the album’s sonic range while continuing its focus on vulnerability, relational tension, and the ways people reach for one another.
